Tibet Lakes
Tibet has the best landscape of lakes in China. There are more than 1500 lakes in Tibet, most of which are situated on high plateaus above 4000 meters. The total area of the lakes reaches 24,000 square kilometers, approximately one third of the total area of all lakes in China. The Tibet lakes are usually very clean and tranquil because they get water supply from the melting snow water on the snow mountains. The touchable blue sky above the lake, pure snow mountain surrounding the lakes, animals wandering on the lakeshores make the Tibet lakes very beautiful.
Among all these Tibet Lakes, Namtso Lake, Yamdrok Lake and Manasarovar Lake are three most famous lakes which together are reputed as “Three Holiest Lakes in Tibet”.
Snow Mountains
Tibet plateau is a land of mountains. There are four world class mountain ranges located in or through Tibet - Himalaya, Gangdis, Kunlun Mountains and Karakoram, which havecreated 79 dominating peaks in Tibet, all of which are higher than 6,000 meters. Every mountain has a beautiful legend or story. For Tibetan people, these mountains are the holy places where the Gods live in. So they built monasteries on the mountain, and settled down at the foot of the mountain to get protection and good blessings from the Gods.
Among all Tibet mountains, Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is the most famous one as well as the most popular mountain. It is located on the border between Nepal and China. In the remote Ngari area, there is the holiest mountain in Asia – Mount Kailash. Nnamjagbarwa Peak in Nyingchi is believed to be the most beautiful snow mountains in China.
Tibetan Palace
In ancient times, there used to be many kingdoms civilized on the holy land of Tibet. Where there is a kingdom, there is a palace. Most of the palaces had disappeared in history. But fortunately, the greatest ones have survived. You can still see the greatest art works created by the brilliant Tibetan artisans, also have a chance to explore the real place where the ancient kings and the Dalai Lamas worked and lived.
The most famous palace in Tibet definitely is the symbol of Tibet - Potala Palace. It is located in central Lhasa city. Another famous place is the Yumbulagang Palace, which is the first Palace of Tibet.
