"We decided to do this trip at the last minute and this company was great at getting us all set up. Jack Li was our initial contact and was able to get all our permits in order in a short time. Our hotel in Lhasa was in a very central location that made it easy to get around. Tendol was our guide and she was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about so many things. And our driver, Tiley, was excellent. I, particularly, am not at all comfortable on high winding roads (because of a previous accident) but with Tiley, I felt absolutely safe and at ease..."

Itinerary: Beijing Lhasa Namtso Chengdu Xian Beijing
Highlights: Potala Palace, Namtso Lake, Sichuan Opera
"Tibet was always our dream destination. This year we decided to do a 16 day trip to China and Tibet. Tibet was our final dream destination, but the rest of China was a very big suprise for us. It was not just filling the trip, but it became an equally important part of our trip. We started in Beijing and then we took a train to Lhasa (41 hours). It was an interesting experience, but I would probably recommend to take a flight. The Tibet itself is amazing. Culture, religion, people... everything in a proper mix made this an unforgettable experience."

Highlights: Potala Palace, Everest Base Camp, Mount Kailash
"I did the 15-day Lhasa, Everest Base Camp and Mt. Kailash tour from 4th-18th June, and had a fantastic time. It was very well organised and everything went to plan. Wonder Wang at Tibet Discovery was very helpful and always answered by email queries very quickly and efficiently. Tibet Discovery got my permit couriered to me in Shanghai one day ahead of my trip. Our Tibetan guides and drivers, both in Lhasa and on the road, were excellent, helpful and good fun. The weather was great, so we had fantastic views of the mountains. As well as the mountain views, I found the wildlife and alpine flowers fascinating."

We contacted Catherine at her holiday time, but she still very happy and detailed told us how to set up the trip in phone. Afterwards, we used Wechat to communicate, no matter day or night, 24/7, she responded instantly all questions we asked, just like you sat on the her desk in her office. It was great experience. Whole trip was great. It let us saw Tibet beautiful scenery, understood more of its religion, and how people live there."

"A trip to Lhasa sounds complicated when you go over the various requirements such as Special Permits, the need to travel as a group etc. The reality was somewhat different. I can count this trip as being hassle-free and enjoyable due to the excellent arrangements made by Rita and her colleagues. Rita answered ALL my questions and concerns on an urgent basis, she set up ALL the arrangements (including delivering my soft sleeper train tickets by courier to my Xining Hotel), and ensured that all required Permits were delivered ..."

All the sights we visited in Lhasa were very impressive. Besides, We visited a lot of monasteries but it has never bored us. At Kumbum Monastery, we were lucky to see a large Thangka of Shakyamuni Buddha. We really have had a fantastic time in Tibet! Itinerary: Hong Kong Kunming Dali Lijiang Shangri-La Lhasa Shigatse
Highlights: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Yamdrok Lake, Tibetan Family Visit, Tashihunpo Monastery, Sera Monastery, Tiger Leaping Gorge, Lijiang Old Town, Kunming Stone Forest
"This was the second time I used their services. Their reliable and excellent consultant, Jack Li, planned our two week itinerary covering Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Tiger Leaping Gorge, Shangari-la, Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse. Everything went like clockwork and I was very impressed with the organisation, hotel selection and general reliability. Jack obviously planned our itinerary with altitude sickness prevention in mind - so we started in Yunnan and the elevation gradually increased as the trip progressed so we acclimatised very well by the time we go to Tibet. The drivers were generally good. We had a lovely lady tour guide called Alice in Dali - highly recommended. "
Practical Suggestions from Our Customers
Apart from the wonderful travel experience, they also conclude some good suggestions after their Tibet tour. Check the following suggestions and they may do a great help to your future Tibet tour
Traveling with an agency is necessary and helpful
"To visit Tibet as a foreigner, in addition to the Chinese visa, you must also apply for the Tibetan permit. Not all tour agencies can successfully obtain the Tibetan permit. Tibet Discovery has good track record in obtaining the Tibetan permit for its clients."
- Geminican
from USA
"On top of this, it is worthy to mention that having her taking care of getting the Tibet access permit was key to be able to board on the plane to that destination and here Lily exceeded my expectations as she noticed that might be a problem with my hotel booking so she contacted the hotel, clarify all aspects with them and managed to make sure that the permit was at the hotel before my arrival."
- Catalin
from Romania
"We reached Lhasa from Beijing by train. It was quite impossible to buy train tickets on the net, so we have to thank Tibetdiscovery. Viven helped us to build the most suitable itinerary for the times and needs of our group, also dealing with all the issues related to the many permits needed to travel to Tibet."
- Antonbarber
from Italy
"Potala Palace only allows a limited number of tourists to visit each day. The admissions ticket is hard to get. You must wait in line to buy it in advance. Tibet Discovery knows well how to obtain the tickets. I chose to pay them for this service so I didn't have to do it and to free myself up for additional sightseeing." - Geminican from USA

Tell all your ideas and worries without reservation
"It is extremely important for the travel agency, agent and guide to understand all the worries and the challenges us, as foreign tourists have when go to Tibet. A trip to Tibet is not an ordinary trip! But this understanding, IMO, should have to be both ways, as a trip to Tibet requires a big effort from tourists as well; the “mental” preparedness of the tourists traveling to Tibet might be a focal point in trip preparation, as life and travels is tough in that area! When these things are in harmony, the tourists will have the most wonderful experience while being on the roof of the world!"

Whether traveler will get high altitude sickness depends on different physical character

- Anjafranzi
from German
"One word of caution – please study all the literature on High Altitude Sickness and ways to combat the same, and take necessary precautions, something that I did not do, thus costing me a day of lying in bed in Lhasa (instead of joining the tour)"
- Deb
from Philippines
"On that note, we were worried about the elevation affecting the little one and made a slow ascent and it was just fine. In fact she had more energy that we did climbing up all the hills!"
