Buddhism is the essence of Tibet. While monastery is the holy shrine for Tibet people. Every region you go, you will find a monastery. There are four main Buddhism sects: Nyingma, Sakya, Gelug, Karma, Kagyu. Each sect has its own monasteries. The capital city Lhasa area houses many important monasteries, such as Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Ganden Monastery. While in Everest, there is the Rongpuk Monastery which is renowned as the highest monastery above sea level. Monastery is also the place where collects arts and relics.
