Lhasa Coach Stations - Getting out of Lhasa by Bus

Because of the poorly developed public transport in Tibet, coaches and buses are the most popular and convenient way to get out of Lhasa and transport to other parts of Tibet. So far, there are 4 coach stations in Lhasa: Lhasa West Suburb Coach Station, Lhasa North Suburb Coach Station, Lhasa East Suburb Coach Station, and Lhasa Liuwu Coach Station, to provide much convenience for locals and those who plan to visit many different places of Tibet.

Lhasa West Suburb Coach Station (拉萨西郊客运站)

Lhasa West Suburb Coach Station is the original long-distance bus station of Lhasa, which basically runs coaches to Chengdu, Shigatse, and Lhoka, while buses to Golmud, Xining, Lanzhou, etc. can also be caught. It also runs international coach to Kathmandu.

Location: 1 Minzu Road (拉萨市民族路1号), at the intersection of Minzu Road and Jinzhu Middle Road.

Lhasa North Suburb Coach Station (拉萨北郊客运站)

Lhasa North Suburb Coach Station is a relatively new and top class passenger station in Lhasa, which mainly runs coaches to Ngari, Nakchu, and Shigatse. Coaches to Lhoka, Chamdo, Makham, Shangri-La, and the passing counties are also available. Besides, this station runs tourist buses to Namtso Lake, Basum-tso Lake, and Mount Everest.

Location: 11 Zhaji Road (拉萨市扎基路11号), opposite to Lhasa Racecourse.

Lhasa East Suburb Coach Station (拉萨东郊客运站)

Lhasa East Suburb Coach Station is mainly for short distance, dealt with the transportation to counties in Lhasa and to Nyingchi, such as to Yangbajing, Gandan Monastery, Damxung, Quxu and so on.

Lhasa Liuwu Coach Station (拉萨柳梧客运站)

Lhasa Liuwu Coach Station is the newest coach stations which mainly for very long distance, such as to Chamdo, Shangri-La, Markham, etc. This coach station also provides international coach running between Lhasa and Kathmandu. The coach is equipped with a tour guide who can speak Chinese, Tibetan, English and Nepali.

Location: near the Lhasa Railway Station.
